How many stations should I install?
The number of stations needed depends on the size of the field and the targeted insect. The distribution of insects within a field is often not homogeneous. Insects that immigrated from overwintering sites are often more concentrated on the field borders, whereas insects hatched from the soil is clustered within the fields.
If you monitor different pests in the same location, you can install different variations of iSCOUT®. Use the iSCOUT® to monitor the presence of pest species on the field site and implement integrated pest management strategies when needed. iSCOUT® can also be used as a benchmark or indicator to correlate against other fields via manual scouting, not necessarily replacing manual scouting, but rather complementing it.
iSCOUT® TYPES
iSCOUT® Pheromone
Designed and developed to catch insects with insect-specific pheromone lure. It includes a metal plate on which sticky paper and a pheromone lure can be applied.
Some of the insects that can be caught with the iSCOUT Pheromone:

- Pernicious scale (Quadrspidiotus perniciosus)
- Sugarcane trash caterpillar (Mythimna phaea)
- False armyworm (Mythimna loreyi / Leacania loreyi)
- Black cutworm (Agrotis ipsilon)
- African bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera)
- Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda)
- Tortricid moth (Lobesia stericta)

iSCOUT® Fruit Fly
iSCOUT® Fruit Fly catches fruit flies. Bigger flies (house flies) and non-target insects can’t enter the trap as 3mm nettings cover the openings. It includes a tank for feeding lure and a metal plate with sticky paper. Remove the netting from the entrances to catch and monitor larger flies.
iSCOUT® Bug
iSCOUT® Bug is designed to catch bugs. It includes a bottom entry with a landing platform, pyramid trap and closed side entries. Once the bug enters the trap, it can’t escape and gets caught on a sticky paper.
iSCOUT® Colour Trap
The iSCOUT® Colour Trap is ideal for monitoring the insects present in the area. The type of insects caught by the trap will depend on the colour of the sticky plate used. Thrips, for example, love blue while yellow will attract whiteflies. White plates will lure other species.
